Millions of packs will be opened as players get their hands on new cards that they want to build entire decks around. The first few weeks after a set comes out are generally the most exciting. The new expansion is live on NA now and hits EU tomorrow, at which point the Hearthstone tavern will be drowned in the eldritch corruption of Warcraft’s most powerful monstrosities. As stated in OP, stats are king in Arena, which is why Boulderfist Ogre is a top-tier card there. After months of waiting, the Old Gods are finally upon us. This is because Cairne is 4-attack (which makes FS actually a better card probably), but the same reasoning applies as to why neither are constructed-level good.Įdit: this analysis applies to constructed, not arena. In fact, the card it is most akin to is Cairne, since Cairne's value comes from his stats. This card is nowhere NEAR the power level of the Sylv, Emperor, or Chillmaw. Sylvanas has an MCT attached to its deathrattle. One exception is Ancient of War at 7 mana, because 5 attack is the most significant attack value in the game and it has a crazy amount of life). Once you hit 6-mana, stats are important, but nowhere near as important as the effect of the card (which is why Thaurrisan is OP and Boulderfist ogre is not. By your logic, because Boulderfist Ogre trades with Thaurrisan and lives, then Boulderfist Ogre is "disgustingly overpowered" - as it is also a common. "Ability to trade" doesn't determine strength of the card (especially after the 5-mana spot), but impact on the board state. ![]() Thoughts? Or am I just totally wrong here I could go into some deeper examples but really I think the fact of the matter is this card isn't going to see much constructed play outside of the initial release bump. After 5-mana, what you really need are good effects (see Sylvanas, Cabal), stats don't do it. However, once you get to the 6-mana slot, it isn't really that important. I would argue that until 4-mana, stats are really what determines the quality of a card - this is why undertaker was such a dominant card for so long. The reason I don't think FS will be OP is because stats simply aren't very important at the 6-mana slot, whereas they are still very important for 4-mana. The question, however, is whether FS is actually comparable to shredder such that it will be similarly OP in constructed. Everyone knows shredder is OP and is why he is in basically every deck. 4 mana 4/3 deathrattle summon a 2-cost card. Obviously, the natural comparison with this card is the outgoing shredder. I can't believe it's a common (can anyone say Keeper of Uldaman?), but whatever.Ĭonstructed: I'm going to say no. Stats are king of arena and this is going to be an autopick for Mage. More (kinda) RNG, but is it good enough?Īrena: Yes. So Noxious' new card is out and it is a doozy.
